Healthcare platforms face heightened regulatory and reputational risk when medicines are involved. Deepali and Himani Dahiya recognised this early.
For nearly a year, iThinkPets operated without a pharmacy, focusing on non-medical pet products. This phase allowed customer understanding without regulatory exposure.
When repeated demand for veterinary medicines emerged, the founders evaluated the risk carefully. The pharmacy was introduced only after engaging veterinary doctors, appointing a licensed pharmacist, and obtaining a drug licence.

“Responsible distribution requires medical oversight and regulatory discipline. Entering pharmacy without doctors, a pharmacist, and licensing would have been unacceptable,” the founders state.
This phased, licensed expansion reduced risk and strengthened trust.
As digital healthcare matures in India, such compliance-led evolution is increasingly seen as a benchmark for sustainable operations.
